A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Situata in California, nella regione vinicola della Sonoma Coast, SCV è stata fondata nel 2011 da John e Barbara Drady insieme all'enologo Anthony Austin. Le vigne si trovano a soli cinque chilometri dall'Oceano Pacifico e beneficiano del clima fresco di questa zona a ovest della Russian River Valley. L'azienda produce vini artigianali di qualità eccellente, prevalentemente a base di uve Chardonnay, Pinot Nero e Sauvignon Blanc.

    Le uve per il Gold Ridge Hills Chardonnay provengono dal Petersen Vineyard e dall'Antonio Mountain Vineyard, situati nella parte occidentale della Sonoma Coast. Il terreno qui è costituito prevalentemente da argilla sabbiosa della serie Goldridge, ideale per la coltivazione di Pinot Nero e Chardonnay.

    Questo Chardonnay è un vino di carattere con aromi piacevoli e un colore giallo limone chiaro. Il naso è burroso con aromi dolci di frutta tropicale e fiori di ciliegio. Al palato, il vino è morbido e setoso con note di brioche e frutta tropicale che ritornano piacevolmente sul finale e una leggera nota minerale che aggiunge complessità. È un vino di medio corpo che si abbina bene alle carni bianche servite con salse burrose o al granchio.
