A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Situata nella regione vinicola della Walla Walla Valley, nello Stato di Washington, l'azienda vinicola Leonetti è da oltre 40 anni una delle più importanti realtà del panorama vinicolo dello Stato. Oggi l'azienda è guidata dai figli dei fondatori, Chris Figgins, presidente e direttore della vinificazione, e sua sorella Amy. L'azienda produce vini di qualità eccezionale rinomati in tutto il mondo, in particolare da uve Cabernet Sauvignon e Merlot.

    Due terzi delle uve 100% Merlot provengono dal vigneto Loess e il resto dai vigneti Mill Creek Upland e Leonetti. Il vino viene affinato per 15 mesi in un mix di rovere francese nuovo e usato.

    Il Merlot Leonetti è un vino succoso e potente. Il naso è ricco di ribes maturo, prugna e amarena, seguiti da note erbacee, grafite e leggeri sentori di cioccolato fondente. In bocca, il vino è ricco e corposo, con una deliziosa concentrazione di frutti rossi e tannini morbidi e maturi. È un Merlot eccellente, generoso, elegante e affascinante. La sua rotondità e i suoi sapori fruttati si abbineranno sicuramente a un filetto Mignon, a delle deliziose costine di maiale o a un'anatra arrosto servita con salsa di prugne.
