I buy from here from time to time as they have some favourite wines that it's difficult to source elsewhere. Acceptable prices and well packaged. My only reason for not giving five stars is that the delivery date never is the date given at check-out. Always a few days later. So take the delivery date with a pinch of salt.

Vini Merlot

Il Merlot è uno dei vitigni più popolari al mondo grazie ai suoi sapori succosi di frutta scura e al suo finale morbido come la seta. I vini Merlot sono di solito da medi a corposi con tannini abbastanza fini che li rendono davvero facili da bere. I sapori tipici includono more, cassis e prugne con note di cioccolato fondente e molte spezie quando invecchiato in quercia.

Le regioni chiave del vino Merlot

Il Merlot è il vitigno più comunemente coltivato a Bordeaux, dove è solitamente mescolato con Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec e Petit Verdot. Il Merlot è particolarmente dominante sulla riva destra della Gironda nelle prestigiose denominazioni di Pomerol e St-Emilion, dove si adatta al terreno argilloso e al clima mite. Altre aree chiave per i vini Merlot di qualità includono l'Italia, dove è usato nei vini Super Tuscan, e la Napa Valley in California.

Il Merlot del Nuovo Mondo dalla California o dall'Australia tende ad essere un po' più ricco e maturo, quindi si abbina bene con bistecche succose, costolette alla griglia o stufati sostanziosi.
