    Lo Chateau Montelena Chardonnay è uno dei vini bianchi più famosi del mondo grazie al concorso enologico Judgement of Paris del 1976 che ha contribuito a mettere la tenuta sulla mappa. Il concorso ha messo i migliori vini della Borgogna contro i vini della California che sono stati tutti degustati alla cieca da una giuria di esperti di vino francesi. Con sorpresa del mondo, i giudici selezionarono lo Chateau Montelena Chardonnay come miglior vino bianco, mettendolo davanti a molti famosi Borgogna bianchi.

    Nonostante la vittoria di questo concorso, lo Chateau Montelena Chardonnay è rimasto notevolmente accessibile e offre ancora un eccezionale rapporto qualità/prezzo per coloro che cercano un'alternativa ai costosi Borgogna bianchi. Dopo la vinificazione, il vino giovane viene invecchiato in botti di rovere francese per 10 mesi per aggiungere ulteriore complessità e profondità.

    Al naso ci sono intense note di pesche bianche, mele verdi e scorza di limone, mentre il primo sorso rivela un corpo pieno e generoso, tannini morbidi e ricchi sapori di frutta tropicale che indugiano a lungo sulla lingua. Ci sono deliziose note di spezie dolci, fumo e pane tostato dall'invecchiamento in quercia. Questo è un vino che è delizioso da bere ora, anche se può anche essere conservato per almeno un altro decennio per coloro che hanno la pazienza di aspettare.
