A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Questo elegante Brunello proviene da una tenuta che risale al XVII secolo e si sviluppa attorno a uno splendido palazzo costruito dal Vescovo di Montalcino. Nel 1985 l'allora proprietaria Elda Ciacci cedette la proprietà a Giuseppe Bianchini, che l'aveva coltivata per molti anni non avendo figli propri. Nel 2004 Giuseppe morì e lasciò la proprietà al figlio e alla figlia, Paolo e Lucia.

    Oggi a questi fratelli si sono aggiunti il figlio e la figlia di Paolo, che stanno guidando questa giovane eredità familiare verso una nuova generazione. La famiglia si concentra sulla creazione di vini Brunello deliziosi e accessibili, capaci di un ulteriore significativo invecchiamento in cantina.

    Questo è il loro Brunello di Montalcino classico, ottenuto da uve coltivate su dolci colline toscane vicino al fiume Orcia. La presenza dell'acqua contribuisce a moderare le estati calde, conferendo alle uve molta freschezza e aromaticità. Il naso è dominato dalle classiche note di ciliegia rossa, oltre a delicati sentori di spezie e tostatura dovuti all'affinamento in botti grandi di Slavonia.
