A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Questo è il vino di punta del Domaine Alain Voge, un Syrah snello e vigoroso, ottenuto da viti con un'età media di 60 anni. Le uve sono state raccolte da una varietà di pendii esposti a sud-est nella denominazione di Cornas, per un totale di 3,5 ettari. Al naso, cerca mirtilli, more e profumi delicati di terra calda e fiori viola.

    La famiglia Voge risiede nella denominazione Cornas della Valle del Rodano settentrionale da oltre un secolo: Henri, il bisnonno di Alain, vi piantò le prime viti nel 1900. Purtroppo Alain Voge è scomparso nel 2020, ma durante il suo mandato ha portato la cantina nell'era moderna, adottando metodi biodinamici e aprendo una nuova cantina di degustazione.

    Il Cornas di vecchia vigna presenta note concentrate e intrecciate di ribes nero e mora, con note aspre di prugna. Sotto il frutto, si possono scoprire note dolci e tostate di cannella, chiodi di garofano e terra bruciata. È stato maturato in grandi botti di rovere per 20 mesi prima della commercializzazione ed è stato fermentato con lieviti naturali. I tannini sono tenaci e lasciano un retrogusto piacevole e asciutto. Consideri l'abbinamento di questo Vieilles Vignes con carni rosse, noci o un Cheddar maturo.
