La famiglia Seghesio ha iniziato a produrre vino in California nel 1895 quando Edoardo Seghesio ha iniziato a piantare viti di Zinfandel nella sua terra nella Alexander Valley. Più recentemente la terza generazione di Seghesio, Pete e suo cugino Ted, hanno messo la tenuta sulla mappa per lo Zinfandel californiano di alta qualità prodotto da circa 120 ettari di vigneti di prima qualità. Oggi la tenuta comprende siti nella Dry Creek Valley, Alexander Valley e Russian River Valley.

Questo Old Vine Zinfandel proviene da vigneti nella Dry Creek e Alexander Valley che hanno un'età media di 70 anni. I vigneti sono accuratamente gestiti per ridurre al minimo le rese e mantenere livelli di qualità eccellenti con vendemmia verde e diradamento all'invaiatura. Queste vecchie vigne sono particolarmente ricercate perché producono piccole quantità di uve Zinfandel concentrate con un notevole carattere speziato.

Nella vigna le uve vengono fatte fermentare in vasche aperte e il vino giovane viene poi invecchiato in botti di rovere francese e americano per 14 mesi. Il potente profilo aromatico si apre con note di cassis, mora e cioccolato al naso, mentre il palato ha un corpo pieno e lussurioso, tannini arrotondati e un finale molto lungo.
