A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Un compleanno da ricordare con DAOU & Colomé Festeggiare il compleanno di mia madre è stato reso ancora più speciale grazie a due vini incredibili: DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 e Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. Il protagonista della serata è stato senza dubbio il DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Fin dal primo sorso, ci ha avvolti nel suo abbraccio ricco e vellutato. I profondi sapori di frutta scura, le note di cacao e il rovere perfettamente bilanciato hanno fatto sì che ogni bicchiere sembrasse una vera indulgenza. È stato audace ma elegante, un vino che ha portato senza sforzo calore e gioia alla nostra riunione. Vedere mia madre assaporare ogni sorso con un sorriso lo ha reso ancora più memorabile. Anche il Colomé Auténtico Malbec si è rivelato un'ottima espressione del Malbec d'alta quota. Era potente, con more mature, spezie e un finale morbido e persistente: un eccellente complemento alla serata. Questi vini non hanno solo arricchito il nostro pasto, ma sono diventati parte della celebrazione, elevando ogni brindisi e conversazione. Un sentito ringraziamento a DAOU e Colomé per aver reso questa occasione speciale davvero indimenticabile!

    Fondata nel 1980 da Clive Paton e sua moglie, Ata Rangi è una piccola azienda neozelandese situata sulla punta meridionale dell'Isola del Nord. Ampiamente conosciuta per la produzione di eccellenti Pinot Noir, l'azienda ha ricevuto il premio Grand Cru della Nuova Zelanda per il suo Pinot Noir di proprietà. Il team, guidato dalla dinamica enologa Helen Masters, produce tre Pinot Nero e una varietà di vini bianchi a base di Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Grigio e Sauvignon Blanc.

    Le uve Pinot Nero provengono dal vigneto McCrone, situato non lontano dai vigneti principali ma caratterizzato dalla presenza di uno strato compatto di argilla superficiale che favorisce il raffreddamento delle radici e la ritenzione idrica del terreno. Ne risulta un vino con una struttura e un profilo gustativo molto diversi dal Pinot Nero della tenuta. Dopo i processi di vinificazione, il vino viene affinato per 11 mesi in barrique francesi (di cui il 25% nuove).

    Il Pinot Nero McCrone di Alta Rangi ha aromi intensi di ciliegie, prugne e violette, seguiti da note speziate ed erbacee e da alcune sfumature minerali. Al palato, è vivace ed elegante, ben strutturato e con tannini fini. Il finale è lungo e persistente e richiama note fruttate complesse. È ideale per accompagnare l'agnello, soprattutto al forno con le erbe, il risotto ai funghi o la selvaggina da penna.
